So Many Mustaches!

Jodi Buell, whom is involved with the American Cancer Society PDX CANswer Project, noticed a Sharing Hope status update on Facebook about Mustache March at this years SXSW and shared some information about a similar event taking place in Portland, OR called March Man-ness Celebration. Can’t come to Austin or simply don’t enjoy travel and are in the Portland area? Grow a mustache (or grab a button, for the mustache impaired) and check it out!

Become a fan of the Sharing Hope Facebook fan page to show your support for the fight on cancer and meet other cancer conscious in the online community!

Mustaches Unite for All Causes: Mustache March

Unifying all causes with the symbol of the mustache, “[...] because in the end, all our causes are connected”, the Mustache March is going on at this years SXSW and is put together by CauseCast for all people in the Austin area wanting to make a difference.  Regardless of the cause you may support or ability to (or not to) grow facial hair (faux mustaches will be supplied) this is a chance for everyones movement to be supported equally.

The event begins at 4:30pm on March 19th, 2009 . We look forward to seeing you all there as causes of all kinds take to 6th street!

NPR Credits SharingHope.tv for “Putting a Face” on Fundraising

Technology expert Omar Gallaga counts SharingHope.tv as one of three charitable organizations best using technology to promote their cause.   The great thing about SharingHope.tv, Omar says, is that instead of seeing a huge DONATE button, you see the faces of real people telling their stories.  Listen to the broadcast at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=98600476 .

For more information on technology and giving, read the related post at NPR’s All Tech Considered Blog.

Austin NBC affiliate KXAN shares the news about SharingHope.

We are so appreciative when mainstream media outlets spread the news about SharingHope.tv, so we want to give a shout out to KXAN for their report which aired tonight at 5pm.  David Scott’s piece did a great job of explaining how having access to individual stories about life with cancer spreads hope to those struggling with a recent diagnosis or undergoing treatment.

Click here to watch KXAN’s report. The link does take a minute or two to load.

Thanks Omar!

I really enjoyed meeting Omar L. Gallaga of the Austin American Statesman at SXSW this year.   Since then, I’ve been a regular reader of his Digital Savant blog on Austin360.com, which helps bolster my tech knowledge tremendously.  Now I can at least pretend to be a computer geek.  : )

Check out Omar’s curent post about the SharingHope.tv Relay for life contest.
